(0917) 542-1047. (0906) 423-4607. I kind of unplugged for two days to watch the entire season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after it’s his favorite reality show.

Prior to watching it, I didn’t know what a redneck was. Now I have a really good idea—kind of like the? I watched a couple of episodes with one of my kids, who farted under the blanket—twice—and then stepped outside to pee on the plant. I realized I had raised a few rednecks in our house. Everyday I have to bug them about their hygiene and manners and pray I can raise decent men who will be kind to their future spouses.

What comes shocking in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is it features a household of girls that act like boys—farting, running around barefoot, burping, and smelling each other’s breath. They are my mom’s worst nightmare!

However, I have to admit I enjoyed the show so much that I finished 10 episodes within 24 hours. I started with five episodes, and then I got grossed out. Then at night I had another marathon and finished it. Meet the family Watch Mama make “sketti” for the family As Anderson Cooper said, “I would rather hang out with them out with them than the Kardashians.” To which Jimmy Fallon agreed: “They’re real people. And they’re a loving family.” To know more, click. For the past week I’ve been nursing this multiple singaw or canker sore on the left side of my cheek. I’d take a picture but everyone I’ve showed it to feels like vomiting.

I know it was caused by my gum chewing, which was due to my diet. I’ve been dieting for one week and I’ve already lost 3 lbs. I need to lose about 13 more. Dieting makes my mouth dry and gives one bad breath, so I chew gum a few times a daw. Hence the singaw—not one, but two. It feels like three.

So I’ve stopped chewing gum, been taking Vitamin B, and applying Pyralvex on the sores. I should gargle Bactidol. Sometimes it feels like the sores are closing or about to end, then they open up again. The pain is so great that I develop a migraine, which doubles the pain. This diet is such a suffering that I’ve stayed mostly at home and in bed. This past week my best friend has been the Apple TV, which I discovered through my techie Dad.

Apple TV is a little gadget you connect to the back of your TV. I got mine from Amazon for only $99. To make it work you’ll need wifi, an Apple ID, and a Mac. From there you can watch all the latest trailers and download all the movies and TV shows on iTunes. Much better if you have a US-based account (like I do) for better selections on movies and TV. I’ve seen some interesting movies and documentaries lately.

I should tell you about it in the days to come. Some time ago, my brother-in-law Leo Riingen, who runs the Informatics franchise in the Philippines, told me the students were asking for a new uniform they could be proud of.

He asked me to design it. “I’m a little rusty,” I told him. I thought of consulting my sister Ana, who is an art student, but she had other designs in mind—think Japanese student, which the Informatics students didn’t like. So I thought of tapping Rajo Laurel, who designs the best uniforms in town. Every time I see a nice uniform—whether it’s Max’s or Peninsula Manila—I find out Rajo designed the uniforms. I brought it up with my brother-in-law who was afraid Rajo would be unaffordable, especially on a student’s budget. But a couple of calls later, they came to an agreement.

I would say Rajo’s uniform design for Informatics looks like a success. Of course it would help if all the students looked like beauty queen Carin Ramos above (just kidding!!). Here’s a rendering of his designs below, including the men’s uniform. Leo says the students love the new designs. Informatics College, a Singapore-based IT school with over 20 institutes and colleges in the Philippines will be introducing its new student uniforms this coming semester. Informatics commissioned top designer Rajo Laurel to conceptualized a modern classic uniform that will reflect the school’s international and young character, while ensuring the comfort and practicality of wearing an everyday, all-temp attire.

The blue and white top with an embroidered gray logo of the school will be worn with matching dark pants by all Informatics College students at least three times a week. Informatics students are also required to wear business attire once a week to allow them to suit up for corporate life, while Fridays are for casuals. Informatics is now accepting enrollees for the Second Term 2012-2013. To know more, go to. Disclaimer: I have probably seen probably one episode of X-Factor Philippines. Saw it because everyone was tweeting about Charice’s crimped hairdo. I have not watched ever since, but today I got this email from iTunes: Curious, I clicked and listened to the grand prize winner, KZ Tandingan singing “Killing Me Softly.” Not bad.

So I thought it was a young boy singing. I wanted to see, so I went to YouTube and saw it was a girl!

With potential! (read: prettier than Charice!) Watching her on YouTube, however, one sees that she could really use help from a stylist and perhaps a modeling coach (Robert Powers? Patty Betita) as she moves like a man (parang Reycards)? That said, I really do like her style (read: singing style).

She has soul and I like her song choices. Apologies to Charice fans! I do not hate her! Do not hate on me! Almost nine years ago I was confined to St.

Luke’s hospital for 13 days. It started with the worst kind of stomach pain. For a week, doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me, until I begged for a CT scan—I know right!

Initial scan results showed something unusual in my intestines. When one of my doctors made his rounds at night, I asked him confidentially if he thought I might have the big C. “It’s possible,” he said.

The only way they would know for sure was to open me up in surgery. And so the night before my surgery I used the PC in my hospital room and deleted a blog that was more like a diary. In 2003 not too many people knew about blogs, so you could really say anything you wanted. I was afraid I might die and didn’t want to leave the legacy of that blog. The operation was a success. No cancer and almost nine years later I’m still here. I haven’t been confined to the hospital since then.

For that I am very grateful to God! Through the years my blog has evolved many times, changing hosts and platforms. I’ve had to adjust due to the readership’s concerns, requests, and reactions.

Now it’s a very public blog and I can’t write everything I want, especially anything that’s not PC (politically correct). Now imagine you’re a blogger with a death sentence. What would your last entry be? David Rose who was born with severe athetoid cerebral palsy and profound deafness. He lived in a residential home for disabled people in Orange County Californa, a stone’s throw from Disneyland.

His family consists of his mom, sister, and a handful of aunts, uncles and cousins who live nearby. It should be noted that Dave is very intelligent, despite not being able to speak. Unfortunately people who first meet him assume he is mentally challenged because he is deaf and non-verbal, but that’s not the case with him.

Dave communicates with a Tobii eye-gaze computer that tracks his eye-movement, which he used to post to and, and message his sister. On October 8, 2012, Dave found out he had pneumonia.

Having seen his friends die from pneumonia, he knew there was a huge possibility he wouldn’t make it, and took the opportunity to write a farewell blog post before his health turned to worse. Following is his last blog entry posted on October 11th, after he left instructions to his sister to publish only upon his death. What i am saying is hospital sucks but my life does not. If i die tomorrow i die happy! Thank you all!

Nearly a month ago I received an invitation to customize a Bototoy for Breast Cancer Awareness. Bototoy is a wooden robot created by Architect Arnold Austria of Jagnus Design Studio. I don’t really what a wooden robot has to do with breast cancer, but I agreed It took me four days to finish the assignment: one day to think about it, two days to work on it, and one day to finish it. You can always count on me to wait till the last minute. Together with Detalle Furniture and Secret Fresh, Jagnus Design Studio cooperates with in their first Mushrooms Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. For the whole month of October, Ministry of Mushrooms invited several popular restaurants around the metro to create special mushroom-based dishes for the benefit of the.

In the ongoing pursuit for a cure, many scientific studies have shown that mushrooms may contribute to breast cancer prevention and elimination. Ministry of Mushrooms’ Victor Sala, Marco Lobregat, and Jose Javier On October 17, Wednesday, Bototoy supports this campaign by holding an exhibit titled “BOTOTOY LOVES BOOBIES” at the Secret Fresh Gallery, Ronac Art Center. The exhibit will run from October 17-19, 2012. The event will bring together some of the country’s most talented creatives from different fields to customize a Bototoy inspired by the cause. All customized Bototoys will be sold, with part of the proceeds going to charity. In addition, a new small-size Bototoy will be launched on October 17. Part of the proceeds from sales during the event will be donated to the iCanServe Foundation.

To know more, go to. This October, M.A.C launches two new collections inspired by legendary Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe and French editor and stylist Carine Roitfeld. Carine Roitfeld, known for her smoky eyes, collaborates with M.A.C to recreate her aesthetic.

Tropical Mist lipstic, face and body foundation, Mineralize concealer, nail lacquers and brushes create the perfect backdrop for dramatic eyes. M.A.C Marilyn Monroe is a color collection that channels her luster and sex appeal through lipsticks in rapturous reds, gleaming Dazzleglass, False Lashes Extreme Black, and eye shadows in shimmering metallic and diamond tones. Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic was a TV show that ran from 1999-2003 on channels E! And the Style Network. It was my cousin Chelo’s favorite show; I used to hear it from her all the time. I never paid attention because, well, I didn’t use to watch TV at that time. My last trip to New York was spent going back to the places I used to know, including shops.

Walking around SoHo one afternoon, Grace and I stumbled upon this store on 117 Mercer Street. (Uhm, can I just say I love this street??) I was attracted to the crazy petticoat lamps hanging from the ceiling. I nearly bought them! Lucky for my husband, I couldn’t imagine how to take them home or where to place them. It was inside the store where I finally got to know Rachel Ashwell’s world.1 I really wanted this antique lamp but the thought of how to take it home stressed me.

Grace and I went downstairs. Luckily, nobody followed us. I could take pictures! I love all the overstuffed furniture in white.

They felt like clouds after a day of walking. This reminds me of my grandmother I truly, madly fell in love with the Russian Folk Beds in the back. I decided to buy and handcarry this lamp for my studio.

I also bought this giant wooden rosary. All I need is a bed, and I’m all set. Rachel Ashwell, I’m a fan! Mind your own stuff and beware of dropped coins. My sister lost her carryon, handbag and all its contents at the Berlin airport when she used the restroom and asked her co-worker to watch her stuff.

A man dropped some coins on the floor and people helped him pick them up. That was when my sister’s stuff disappeared. Imagine losing your passport, wallet, cash, credit cards, gadgets, everything, on a trip? Good thing her husband was there to for moral support and help her make the calls. While they were taking a train to get a new passport to the Hague, they got a call from the police. Someone had dumped her passport in the trashcan.

At the very least it was a blessing to get that one back. Thieves have no conscience. Be careful even during mass.

In 2005, my uncle suddenly died of a heart attack. While the wake was going on in Malate, some friends and relatives gave envelopes to my tita, who put it inside her handbag. During the mass, her bag was stolen, adding more salt to her wounds.

Not all thieves lurk in squalid, crowded places like Divisoria. Last night, TV personality RJ Ledesma lost his backpack containing his Mac and other valuables while hosting a wedding at the Peninsula Manila.

He had entrusted his stuff to the wedding organizers, who failed to keep an eye on it. Luckily the hotel’s CCTV captured the thief entering and exiting the Pen with RJ’s backpack. Unfortunately it’s going to take a miracle to get his stuff back.

I first heard of the media term “kuryente” while I was working for the Daily Globe in 1991. Apparently it meant believing some story as fact or truth, when you are being taken for a ride. As a blogger I try to check things before I put it out there, but I’ve had kuryente before, like when I believed Brangelina were at Boracay Shang, according to a very “reliable” source. Yesterday I posted a very moving letter from a 24-year-old man named who had cerebral palsy and supposedly died of pneumonia. Tonight I found out both and his sister, who took care of him—both deleted their Twitter accounts as well as his and his page. Earlier this evening I was chatting with my friend about gadgets for people on wheelchairs, when I stumbled upon this site where a deadringer for Dave Rose was featured. Except his name is.

Carine Roitfeld Clothing

I searched Twitter, which finally led to this site:. I don’t understand why people do these things—make up stories online and pretend to be people they are not. Apparently the American press hasn’t been informed yet. I can still see news items on Dave Rose updated two hours ago from.

Let’s wait for an update on this weird internet hoax in the next few days. He may have sold his name and label to DIESEL, but Maison Martin Margiela’s collab with H&M launching next month shows he hasn’t sold his soul! I feel like crying after see the lookbook pics! I’ll definitely have to fly somewhere there’s no serious queue because I want to buy half the collection!!

One by one, let’s take a look at the offerings this November. 1) I love this, especially the bag and skirt 2) Everything here is geniu: the pillow-pack clutch, the jeans, and the trompe l’oeil bra top 3) I love the pant/skirt thingy 4) Hello, did you make this for me??? 5) Cute leggings. Coat inappropriate for Manila weather, obviously 6) Pang Philippine Fashion Week 7) Maybe Keri would like this 8) Very nice but nakakatanda (no offence) 9) Lovely trompe l’oeil dress 10) Cute 11) I love everything here 12) Uhm, pass 13) The normy outfit 14) No comment. 15) Pass, again.

17) Yes to this! I have to plan this carefully. Don’t know yet which country I’ll go to, but definitely not Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore or Thailand. So help me God!! Jeroen and I had a beautiful wedding invitation designed by Yodel Pe back in 2000.

Luckily we printed many extras. I still have a bunch of them stored somewhere. (I’ll show you when I find them ) I still remember the first time I encountered Ryan and Garovs, the creative duo behind. It was at McDonald’s Greenbelt. I didn’t know them but I smiled because I thought they looked cute. They didn’t smile back so at first I thought they were snobs.

I got to know them more through Mich Dulce who knows all the hipsters in town in any country. I’ve seen Ryan through his weight loss (he gave up meat) and Garovs through numerous hairstyle changes. Outside Rustan’s, 2007 Must be Greenbelt, 2009 Definitely Greenbelt, 2009 Bingo at home, 2009 (Photo: EDISON ONG) Photo shoot at home, 2009 Ayala Museum, 2011 (Photo: TRISH SOMERA) At home, 2012 Bleach Catastrophe, 2012 Winning the Globe Tatt Awards, 2012 Swiped from somewhere, 2012 (cause I love this photo) The one time I realized how much Ryan was devoted to Garovs was when he accompanied to the in 2009 and fought for her rights. Sorry to mention it again—I just wanted to point out that I’ve had boyfriends wait for me in the salon for a blowdry, but not patiently for hours—that’s LOVE! So finally, after so many years, I was so happy to hear these two were engaged. What’s more, they asked me and Jeroen to be their wedding sponsors. Ryan told me they sponsors who were their pegs in life.

Monroe

Maybe they saw how Jeroen and I really get along with our 15 years (and counting) together. Today I received the invitation that made me cry.

The accordion invitation they shot and designed with and Buenconsejo, opens up to 18″ x 24″. On the flip side are wedding details, venue, attire, entourage, and some fun facts about the couple Jeroen and I are listed here I cry when I see really beautiful things. This is one of them.

I also cried because Ryan and Garovs know I will be in Japan during this time with my family. I had mentioned to them early on that I may be out of town, but they still asked me and Jeroen to be part of it. Because of that, I have deep regret, but really hope to make it up to them, praying to God and Johnny Air Cargo and Analyn Diego to help deliver my wedding gift to Manila before the wedding and holidays.

I saw a stolen shot of Garovs’ gown by Mich Dulce, and it is amazing!! So I found out the new open mall/area across from Bonifacio High Street has a name—it’s Bonifacio High Street Central. The open area is surrounded by three buildings: the first one has Cake Club and Mango Tree; the second has Cotton On, Slice, and Jamba Juice; and the third is a shopping mall with Y-3 and Fred Perry underneath, G-Star Raw and the A.Shop on the second second level. Through my sister Ana, I heard that FLIGHT 001 opened last week in the third building I mentioned. FLIGHT 001 (pronounced “flight one”) was conceived in 1998 by John Sencion and Brad John—two business travelers who envisioned a one-stop travel store with a retro-modern feel.

They have stores in New York, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Chicago, Brooklyn, Singapore, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and now, in Manila. I first discovered this as an before seeing an actual store in the Singapore airport. It’s hard to resist the store design. In New York Chicago San Francisco I dropped by last Saturday night to check out the newly opened store across from the A.Shop. Not much luggage here, but more of travel accessories and what goes inside the luggage Like organizing cubes and labeled pouches Compact travel bags for your last minute purchases I love A small selection of bags Things to make your trip comfier Neon travel cases (drooling here) Retro passport cases And all kinds of bag tags Finally I found what I was looking for. I bought ten! To know more call FLIGHT 001 at 720-9683.

M∙A∙C Marilyn Monroe, a colour collection that channels the legend’s lustre and sex appeal in shades and formulas meticulously Marilyn. Lipsticks in rapturous reds, gleaming Dazzleglass, a dramatic 35 Lash, False Lashes Extreme Black and Eye Shadows in shimmering metallic and diamond tones provide silver-screen allure. The finishing touch: Nail Lacquers destined to be a girl’s best friend and Beauty Powder to evoke that flawless Forever Marilyn. Forever Marilyn Beauty Powder Brow Finisher Dazzleglass Little Rock Dazzleglass Phiff! Marilyn Monroe’s makeup is one of my favorite styles ever, so even though I’m not supporting MAC since their animal testing policy changed, I was still very interested to see this collection.

It’s totally different than I expected – I guess they were trying to do a more modern take, but I feel like they kind of lost the essence of Marilyn the things that made her iconic. It would’ve been so cool if they’d created products that went along with the many amazing makeup tips and tricks she used or colors that were more true to what she wore. I guess it was probably challenge, trying to balance being true to her image while creating something new and modern, but I can’t help but feel like they’re kind of just cashing in on her name/the fad Catherine´s last post.
