Nvidia Geforce 9800 Gt Driver For Mac
Hi All, I did a clean install on my X58A-UD3R using Unibeast - Lion Retail USB, and then used Multibeast USERDSDT. Unfortunately I cannot get my 9800 GT to work (in high graphics).
Otherwise low resolution works but it looks horrible. I tried various Multibeast settings such as GraphicsEnabler = yes and then = no, but still no luck. I am using MacPro3,1 system definitions. This is what the System Profiler tells me about the graphics card: Display: Type: GPU Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 3 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0614 Revision ID: 0x00a2 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes My understanding is that Lion has the NVIDIA drivers but somehow they are not working. If someone could help with this I would greatly appreciate it. I am not surprised at the problem faced by the OP, since I have encountered exactly the same problem when I was testing installing Mac OSX Snow Leopard on various motherboards using a Nvidia 8600GT or 9800GT.
The latest versions of MultiBeast have removed the NVEnabler option from Graphics and I have always wondered why. When I was testing installing Snow Leopard, I found that I had to use an older version of MultiBeast (3.7.3) to enable NVEnabler after installing the 10.6.8 Combo Update and EasyBeast, otherwise I would have the same problem as the OP, namely that the resolution was restricted to 1024x768 and there was no way to change that. After I successfully installed Snow Leopard and had it working on my current system, I attempted to install Lion using the older xMove method and the OSX 10.7 install application (not the current 10.7.2 install application which probably won't work with xMove) having first installed Chimera 1.5.4 in Snow Leopard. I chose to install Lion in a separate partition, and after completing the installation I was able to boot into Lion from the Chimera menu (since Chimera is already installed in Snow Leopard) without the need to invoke MultiBeast in Lion. The 9800GT worked fully in Lion. I then installed the 10.7.2 Combo Update, reboot to Lion, and the 9800GT still worked fully. I was aware that installing EasyBeast at this point may very well make the same problem of the OP appear and I would then have no way out.
Fortunately since Chimera was already present in Snow Leopard I did not need to install EasyBeast. I just ran MultiBeast and installed the Realtek network drivers only to enable the network. I did not run EasyBeast in MultiBeast which meant I had avoided the problem of the OP. I know my method is probably not applicable to the OP, but if he/she can find some way to enable NVEnabler then I believe the graphics should work again. I have no idea how to do that, though. In response to Jamesbond007 first of all thank you so much for your feedback. At least I know now that native Geforce graphics is not natively supported by EasyBeast, hence I have to fall back onto other solutions.

It's a pity that support for native Lion Nvidia was removed recently, but I would speculate that it's important to allways push forward with new technology, and perhaps I should be the one who needs to go and purchase a new Graphics card with ATI HD3000 native Lion supported. You are right that using older install methods will enable the NVidia drivers, because my graphics card is working with Lion being upgraded from Snow Leopard, which was setup using old boot loader and xMove.
In response to octavc thanks for the advice, I have tried installing the Nvidia Cuda driver for mac from Nvidia, but it's not working! Maybe I will have to fiddle a little with MultiBeast (changing GraphicsEnabler etc.
Khan, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you I didn't copy and paste thoese 'Thank yous' by the way. I searched on google and figured out how it the Graphic Card works. For your convenient Guys. I used Leopard 10.5.4 from iATKOS, and then I downloaded the NVInstaller v0.52. No coding, no nothing, one restart and it worked My Asus 9800GT is supporting full resolution with all other functions working perfectly. Hi, I just puchased components for a new OSX build.
Seems I've overlooked the fact that support for 9800GT is limited. Can you share with me exactly the steps to get 9800GT working?
I need help with iATKOS install. I've installed Leo4All 10.5.2 with sound and network but no graphics. I'd very much like to get graphics to work. Please check my sig for my config. I hope someone could help me with my graphics problem. I have XFX Nvidia Geforce 9800GT 512MB and with installation of latest Snow Leopard and Chameleon 2.0 RC4 is recognized fully.??? I'm booting with -x32 (it KPs immediately after loading the desktop without this, even with the 7900).

The KPs are always from a random process (usually mdworker) so I have no ideas as to what could be causing them. There's a 10.5 partition on the machine that does the same thing without any kernel panics. I had NVkush and NVinject (0.2.1) enabled with the 7900GS but I've taken those out (with them both I got no display). I have the correct EFI string in the Boot.plist file (it recognizes it as a 9800 1gb) but still no QE/CI. NVinject 0.2.1 loads if I put it in S/L/E but doesn't give me any more resolutions or QE/CI, 0.2.2 seems to not load at all (no messages during boot).

I had the GeForce.xxx kexts removed from S/L/E but I've put those back in. Machine: P5W-DH intel core2 quad 2.66 6gb ddr2 800 ram Any ideas?
