Disable Os Shortcuts (on Mac For Cs:go : Steam For Mac
Just to reiterate, command key functions ruin the game for me at least. In addition, the hot corners on macs need to be overridden as well because every time i put my mouse in the corner of the screen it brings me my dashboard and that is not a function id like to give up to play dota. While i understand that there are intricate ways of going about these things, an organic fix would be much better.
And also, while you might be able to disable command+q, you cant enable the use of command keys as available hot keys for items and such in the game. I appreciate the developers taking their time to look into these things!
All credit goes to. I found this when searching for information on the 'renice' command on. The original thread. This short script sets the csgoosx process to the highest priority. My performance (2013 rMBP with Iris Pro gfx) went from 55 fps with 6ms var to 100 fps with 1ms var. I am so glad I found this. Here is the script, more explanation is found on the original thread.
Basically all you need to do is create a desktop shortcut for csgo, open the script editor in the finder, paste this in and put in your personal information, and save the script as an application. I added the delay command because my script finished before csgoosx opened as a process, resulting in an error. The original author didn't need it apparently. Set myfilepath to 'Macintosh HD:Users:username:Desktop:Counter-Strike Global Offensive' tell application 'Finder' to open myfilepath delay 5 tell application 'System Events' to set unixID to unix id of process 'csgoosx' do shell script ('renice -20 -p ' & unixID) password 'your password' with administrator privileges This will create an app in the documents folder by default, start the game with this from now on and see how it improves your performance. Hope this helps other mac users! While I'm sharing some mac tips, I use to remove OSX's horrendous mouse acceleration.

I don't ever do it as I don't really need to on my computer. I think that when you quit out of CS it doesn't actually kill the process, it might if you quit out of steam though. If the process didn't quit then you don't need to renice it again. Theoretically, you could write a script that you run at login that polls for the csgoosx process and then renices it once it is found. Unfortunately do to the way steam handles the game, I don't know if its possible to change the launch options to do this or to start csgo from a script that does this.
